Arsenal are reportedly ready to pay £12million for Ron Vlaar today according to the Mirror.

Verdict: Vlaar turns 30 this season, and although he looked impressive at the world cup, you have to question why we’d sell Vermaelen and replace him with an older defender. I also don’t expect to see Arsene Wenger spend £12million on a defender that is 29 today. As much as we are desperate for defensive cover (and need to sign a player there) I don’t think it will happen at this price. If this deal does happen, it will be for the £8million mark.
I think we should move for Nastasic as that makes more sense, he’d cost around the same (£12million) but has huge potential and is a lot younger.
